EXPECTATIONS OF STAY, TERMS & CONDITIONS
We would like to take this opportunity to explain some basic guidelines for you to follow to make your stay as pleasurable as possible.
- you can either choose to pay a cleaning fee of $180 or
- clean the lodge yourself leaving it JUST AS YOU FOUND IT
Please read the simple, easy to follow cleaning protocol written on the wall in the kitchen before you start cleaning to make sure you have everything covered.
If the centre is left dirty we will charge the cleaning fee of $180.00 (depending on level of cleaning needed). The cleaning products, additional toilet paper & hand towels and vacuum cleaner are provided in the cupboard under the stairs and are also in each bathroom.
We do not do daily cleaning of the facility, this is your responsibility, but we do provide the materials for you to do so. There are rubbish bags in the cleaning cupboard, please put the full bags into the green bins in the carpark.
There is a washing machine situated at the south end of the Lodge. Please wash tea towels and hang out to dry. There are washing products available for your use. Please do not hesitate to use the washing machine for personal use during your stay. Tea towels are situated in the bottom drawer inside the kitchen itself.
Smoking is to be limited to outdoors and we would prefer it to be contained to the carpark area. Please use containers to collect all cigarette butts.
There is limited cell phone coverage down at the lodge. More reliable coverage can be obtained on the upper levels of the property (depending on your provider). You are able to use the land line up at the office in the case of an emergency.

- In the event of a fire there are fire extinguishers situated around the centre, there is also a fire and evacuation guide in the dining area.
- In the event of an earthquake follow the evacuation procedure guidelines placed on the kitchen wall.
- Please be aware if you are consuming alcohol that the centre is on the edge of a cliff face and please take responsibility and care for yourself and others.
Questions and concerns:
Please do not hesitate to contact us by coming up to the community house office should you have any questions or concerns during your stay.
Damage: Repair and replacement of items and/or fittings damaged during your stay, other than normal wear and tear, will be charged to the hirer.
Missing Items: Please ensure all items in rooms that are moved or altered are returned to their rightful place prior to departure. Any missing items such as pillows will be charged at a replacement cost and will be invoiced accordingly to the hirer.
The Waihōanga Retreat Centre accepts no liability for any illness, injury or loss resulting from or relating to any activities that guests may engage in either on or off the premises. For your own safety guests must be mindful that the Waihōanga Retreat Centre is located on the cliff face of the Otaki River and are surrounded by bush and mountains. While every effort is made to ensure the safety of our guests, all walks, swimming and activities are undertaken at your own risk. Group leaders, supervisors, and caregivers must be suitably experienced to supervise children and other members of their group.
It is the responsibility of the person making the booking to ensure that these conditions are adhered to.
