Mataji Yoga School
11th -13th Dec 2015

While yoga is practised by a huge number of women, the philosophy and background tends to be masculine based. What happens when you start putting equality back into the mixture and exploring both the feminine and masculine aspects of practise? How does this exploration of balance and union (the meaning of yoga itself) spill off the mat and into our lives? These are the questions that the three teachers bring to this retreat. Blending yoga asana, meditation, and workshops on embodiment the weekend is also a chance to soak in what equality means on and off the mat.

About the teachers:
Nat, Sam and Dan discovered a synergy of teaching together on a recent retreat with all yoga teachers being interested in exploring the balance of energies :
Nat Jayadevi brings the feminine to the group, having been challenged to teach first students and now yoga teachers the art of balance and embodiment in their yoga practise.
Daniel Taylor has been teaching yoga for 9 years and comes from a warrior/martial arts background to the idea of embodying the masculine and what that means.
Samuel Gronn O'Brien also comes from the martial arts background, teaching yoga and meditation and with a good dose of Pan along the way.
Together they are taking people on a journey to equality within and then into the outside world.

Emptiness - Discover The Truth
20 - 22 November 2015

There is no greater method for experiencing peace of mind and happiness than to understand and meditate on emptiness, the ultimate nature of reality. In this silent retreat Kelsang Pagma will guide meditations on this profound Buddhist knowledge of the truth of phenomena, emptiness.

“Emptiness is the way things exist as opposed to the way they appear. Although things appear directly to our senses to be truly, or inherently, existent, in reality all phenomena lack, or are empty of, true existence.” Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, Modern Buddhism.

Emptiness simply means how all things actually exist rather than how things appear. With emptiness as a foundation of reflection on our personal experiences, we have a great opportunity to sort out our source of pain and suffering and to find our own source of unlimited happiness and permanent liberation from problems.

Enjoy the tranquil setting of Otaki’s native forest at the Waihoanga Centre as you are lead into meditations to make your mind profoundly peaceful and transform your entire life. The retreat begins with Dinner on Fri at 6pm and ends on Sun at 4pm.

Cost: $180 includes dorm-style accommodation and all meals

The Teacher:
Kelsang Pagma is the Resident Teacher at Bodh Gaya Buddhist Centre. Pagma is a sincere practitioner who shares Buddha’s teachings with gentleness and warmth. She demonstrates how to transform life’s difficulties into the spiritual path inspiring others to do the same.

Revitalising Pre Summer Retreat

 Live Well Retreats

6th - 8th November 2015

Springtime is Mother Nature’s natural detox season. This retreat will be focused on releasing and letting go of toxins in both our body and mind. Cleansing and detoxifying will help you not only to prevent illnesses but will also help you to ease symptoms of, and possibly even reverse, many common and serious health challenges. As spring is a time of renewal, once you have done a bit of internal spring cleaning, you will feel invigorated and inspired to lead into summer with renewed energy and vitality.

The process of this gentle weekend detox will involve incorporating a variety of specific yoga postures (both in the yang and the yin yoga sessions) as well as through mediation and sound vibration (reducing mind toxins) and through the natural detox teas as well as the whole foods we will be nourishing and fuelling our bodies with.

The Lasavia Course

7-11th October 2015

_____________________________

A New course accepting enrolments for 2016

16th - 20th March 2016
22nd - 26th June 2016
12th-16th Oct 2016

In many ways the course is all about our relationships and the interconnectivity of all things; our relationship with spirit, with ourselves, with each other, nature, land and with the energy behind all things, leading us to the power of mind and heart, of what it is to being human and connecting to source.

Lasavia is a training course that accentuates the naturalness of our spirituality, the need for acute observation and awareness, and reminds us of the power of dignity as we plumb the depths of our inner exploration. It is a transformative course designed for healers, creators and leaders in their various fields to be able to access their individual gifts, bring their lives into a spiritual context and connect with their natural environment. It is a training in healing oneself and to work in the healing field of shamanism. It is the prerequisite course in training to teach the lasavia work. The structure is inherently supportive and all workshops are created within a sacred circle that is both liberating and respectful. It is a two year training course. We are taking intakes for two new groups one at Waihoanga Centre for Well-being at the Otaki River.  The other course will be at Huia regional park in Auckland.
